The CPU's top cover has a secret

If you think the CPU top is an ordinary piece of iron, you are wrong. The TOP COVER OF CPU IS NOT IRON NOT ONLY, AND CAN SEE MANY INFORMATION COME, THIS PERIOD DIY FROM ENTRY TO GIVE UP TO TAKE YOU TO BE FAMILIAR WITH THIS SMALL COPPER PIECE.

Yes, the top of the CPU is made of copper, which provides better thermal conductivity, and alloys such as titanium and nickel are added for strength. To avoid oxidation, THE top OF the CPU IS coated WITH NICKEL, which is what we normally see.

So what are the characters on the CPU top cover? If we take Intel's Core I5-9400F as an example, we can see that there are five lines of content on the top cover, which we interpret separately.

The first line is the ring logo of Intel, which is an abstract representation based on the Intel logo. As long as the Intel U is not too old, it has this logo.

For example, the Core I5 series is printed with Core I5. Correspondingly, the Celeron series is printed with Celeron, the Ziqiang series is printed with Xeon, and the Pentium series is printed with Pentium. In addition, there are a few products that do not belong to any series and use Processor instead.

The third line is the specific model of the product, such as I5-9400F, which is also the model we used when comparing products in the ladder diagram and buying products.

The INFORMATION IN THE fourth line is THE CPU ID code and the master frequency. The master frequency need not be explained. The master frequency here is silent frequency rather than smart frequency. The identity code is also known as the S-SPEC code, and we don't need to go into depth here, as long as we know that it has to do with stepping, basically has no impact on CPU performance.

The information in the fifth line is mistaken by many players for the serial number, but it is actually the Batch code of the CPU. The Batch code generally has eight digits, consisting of the origin (the first digit), the production cycle (the second to the fourth digit) and the specific Batch (the last four digits).

Specifically, the origin codes of the first place are: Malaysia is L/Q, Vietnam is X, Costa Rica is 3/7, and China is 5. The first part of the production cycle refers to the production year, 8 is 2018, 9 is 2019, the last two parts of the production cycle is the number of weeks, and 50 is the 50th week. Specific batches are of little significance to most users and do not need much attention.

The information on AMD's CPU cap is similar, but the product series and model number are placed in the top left corner, along with the rest of the production cycle. AMD's CPU also has no serial number.

Although there is no serial number on the CPU, the Batch code is consistent with the package. The product packaging should be provided during the warranty. If the Batch code on the CPU is different from the package, it means that the product is packaged in loose pieces or other ways, and cannot enjoy the warranty.
